A bunch of unfortunate happenstances...
What really gets my goat is the fact that Americans and Canadians are actually buying iodine pills... as if nuclear radiation from Japan is going to somehow come across the freaking ocean! Come on! What is wrong with you people? Maybe instead of worrying about a non-existent threat we should be helping out? Thanks to everyone who donated for the Japanese people. I'm half Japanese and my friends and family are still over there. I went to school in Hirosaki which is way up north, as far as I know they don't have power and Japanese houses don't have central heating or much in the way of insulation. I'd like to go but I recently lost my job so there's not much I can do.
As if that wasn't bad enough, it looks like Moammar Gadhafi is going to win this civil war. Yes, everyone loves an underdog, but when the rebels have small arms and makeshift weapons going against artillery, tanks, planes, and bombs, admittedly, they didn't have much of a chance. And with Gadhafi and his son back in control, it's only a matter of time, they can then say "Fuck you!" to the United States, Canada, and everyone who said, "Hey, you should step down." No one provided him aid or support and even told him to leave, and if we've learned anything from Gadhafi's little temper tantrum that left Canadian ex-pats heading home because someone is the Harper government said something he didn't like, he can hold a grudge and be as immature as a freaking child. He has no freaking clue about politics and tact. So he's going to hoard his oil and say "Mine!" until we pay out the ass. Lucky for the world SunCore and a bunch of other energy companies are heading off the oil sands projects of which have HUGE reservoirs of the black stuff. So, the world just might find a new outlet and Gadhafi can have his little tantrum and like good parents, he will be ignored.

It must be hard to be management...
Today I was lucky enough to witness management at work. My co-worker has been sitting right next to a director discussing... not a new program to introduce, not an impending project that will revolutionize our department/company/industry... no, they were discussing a diagram. A diagram that could be made in 20 seconds as it only has five elements that need to be linked to each other in a circle. Easy right? NO! They arrows used did not represent what we wanted to show, the circles enclosing the elements were too bubbly or not bubbly enough. The direction seemed ridged and robotic, or too curvy and liberal. These are not my terms, I just overheard them.
Apparently, this single diagram, showing that five elements are linked, is so important that the directors have had day long meetings about it. Using up vast amounts of time, theirs and ours.
I must be retarded because I cannot fathom how this diagram is so important as to warrant all-day meetings. I am so lucky to have a management team that truly knows what's important and prioritizes all tasks to reflect as such. As a retarded peon my opinion is uneducated, and holds no relevance to the subject at hand. Thank god for upper management!

in Japan
so I've finally made it. after 12 hours of travel and 4 hours of navigating the Japan rail, we've made it to the hotel! I've been awake for nearly 24 hours. I am so tired but I cannot sleep because its only 6 oclock here. the heat is immense. and the humidity wraps around you. its especially bad when you're hauling 40lb of luggage up 11 flights of stairs... and then walking a kilometre and them going up more stairs. anyways enough complaining. I'm here now and happy to ne back. I just can't wait to unload some of these gifts and lighten my luggage.

Talking Down
Luckily, I have a boss who is nice and she always asks us if we're too busy to work on, whatever it is, and reflecting her kindness, we almost always answer "no" because we want to do the work for her.
I guess the reason for this post is just to vent and rant about all the things that everyone hates and have said a million times before. If you're in a position of power, don't act like it, a little humility goes a long way and people probably wont hate you.

on the can again
I'm not sure what I really have to say. I'm mostly passing time so my minutes in this small room don't feel wasted. Also I haven't written anything in my blog in a long time. I haven't written anything in a long time. I used to write almost daily, either my blog or stories or novels. But as of late I just haven't seemed to have the inclination. Maybe I'm missing my muse. something to rant about a kind of person I hate or general annoyances. Nothing. I've just been wasting my time on thing worth less than my time on the can.

A friend sent me a message saying that 1337% of pi equals 42. THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING! But only amazing if you are a geek nerd loser.

Ruined Potential Part 1
The first line of the first game. This series was based on story first and foremost. Cut scenes were graphic novels, the noir theme like Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. It was dark and gritty and took place in New York. The game was the catalyst for a terrific story about a cop who had lost everything searching for answers why. Max Payne was a DEA Agent working undercover, then a criminal on the run. It was personal his wife and child dead and no answers why, just a green trail of drugs.
Max Payne was one of the most brilliantly written games by Sam Lake and if it were a book, would have some of the best imagery I have heard. "The sun went down with practiced bravado, twilight crawled across the sky, laden with foreboding."
And now it's taking place in Sao Paulo he actually gets to see the sun, he traded in his collared shirt, trench coat and slicked back hair for a beard shaved head and a muscle shirt... What is he fighting for? He avenged the death of his wife and child, stopped all production of Valkyr, and took out his newest enemy Vlad (which I thought was a big mistake and had no continuity with Max Payne 1) Mona Sax is dead and no one is hunting him. How could this possibly "Not be over"?
This is nothing like the Max Payne of the past, this is another half-assed game made to appeal to the new generation of player following the "Why make a great game that might not sell as well, when you can make a s**t game that will fly off the shelves"
Who knows though right? Maybe I'm full of s**t and this is going to be the game that bring us out of the dark ages of gaming, it's written by the same guy (who also wrote Alan Wake) so perhaps it will please everyone and I'll have to eat my own words when I tell everyone how amazing Max Payne 3 is.

the internet is down
What an incredible dependency I have on the internet to get through my day to day. Usually, I'd just put on some music or listen to a tv show or movie while I was consumed in mundane tasks at work. I'd look up from the screen then "hey! its lunch time" the " hey! its home time".
Today at work the network went down and although my work today doesn't require the internet, the entertainment it provided proved yo be invaluable. It's not just me other coworkers are becoming very annoyed with the system and are vividly checking to see if we have our beloved access back. half the day is gone. I've listened to no music nor movie nor th show and the day seems to have just dragged and is currently dragging on. Now I realize the true potential of this app. now I must go or people will think I'm constipated.

the things i would do
A high powered laser in my hands. Terrible! I, like most people, have had fantasies of exacting revenge on strangers who have done me wrong. Nothing serious, but something action to say "Hey! You're an ass and being rude to people you don't know is a dick move."
On many occasions I'm looked down on, stepped on, pushed around wherever I go. And on a daily basis I see people and kids with shit they do not deserve and wasting their advantages they have over the rest of us.
I was going 60km/h on a road where the limit was, surprise surprise, 60km/h. As soon as the guy in the lane to my right pulled behind, some jerk in a Ford F250 Superduty pulled into the right lane pulled ahead of me and nearly clipped my front bumper. I had to hit the breaks to avoid a collision. Then waiting behind him at the lights he fingered me and sped off when they turned green. I met him again at the next set of lights, once again behind him. This time he seemed to ignore me. Every time something like this happens I feel that some sort of punishment is in order, just to warn them that being a dick is not good.
I might be a little overboard but I feel that they do not deserve their sight anymore. If I were much like Hannibal Lecter I would eat rude people, but that would be a lot A LOT of meat... I might actually be able to solve world hunger.
The jerks in the parking lots with the Lamborghini's and Ferrari's would be next on my list. These jerks not only feel it is necessary to drive their $300,000+ cards downtown showing off to everyone, but they take up to sometimes three parking stalls. Downtown is a busy place and everyone needs a parking spot, because you have a car that is worth a house you feel you have the right to take up the spot that someone working downtown to feed their two kids and wife could use to park closer to his work? FUCK YOU! You would come out of your work and realize their the tires of your ride have all been melted.
Walking downtown is not easy for a short person. All these big tall business men too busy to look where they're going actually walk on, push, and bowl me over. Well, it looks like you're going to have to get another $5000 Armani suit because I'm going to burn a hole in it. Just like those jerks in the University! Here are a group of men all in suits worth more than my car telling us why they are hiking the tuition by more than 50%! Do starving college students really seem like the kind of people who have enough money to extort? You just built a new building, didn't you figure that it was out of your budget? I would laser... wait you know what, I would eat those people!

shortsighted...
Originally instead of going on top of 7th Ave the C-train was meant to go under 8th Ave! That's right under. The Calgary C-train was meant to be a subway style city transit system, unbound by roads, able to go wherever without fear of hitting people. Today a young boy under five years old was killed by the C-Train. All I can say is how shortsighted it was to try to cut the cost by making it ground level transit. A monorail above ground would have been suitable as well.
Calgary doesn't get earthquakes, we don't get tornadoes (but they come close), nor floods, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, or pretty much any natural disaster. We do get cold. Very cold... really freaking cold. And waiting for a bus or for the C-Train at minus 35 with the windchill making it minus 50 is not fun. Waiting underground sounds much more pleasant.
If we had only waited another year till 1982 and put in the time and money Calgary's streets wouldn't be overrun with buses, trains wouldn't be killing people and Calgary could actually say it was happy with it's transit system instead of the joke it is now.
what have you become?

blogs from a can
This will be my second post while on the can and I'm starting to understand why this app exists. normally I'd like to read but that would seem like a lack of work ethic. So instead of doing anything actually productive, I'm just writing my thoughts. Practically no one will read this anyway. A motivational poster said it best "blogs, never before have so many said so little to so few". I just think that's one of the truest descriptions of a blog.

this is a test, this is only a test
I downloaded a new app for my phone which will allow me to add new posts to my blog. I'm sitting on the can at work wondering... when will I ever need this app. I usually only blog when I'm at an actual computer. What could be so urgent that I can't wait until I get home to write it? I have then come to the conclusion that this app like most others is completely useless. But, like the saying goes "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

a glimps of things to come
I will endeavour to make sure anything I will ever write will carry no merit or conscious thought. It will be as dismissible as the nice driver who slowed down and let you merge in front of him or the extra smile you you receive from that cashier every morning.
No, nothing I ever will say will matter in the slightest. If you disagree with what I have to say, there are many more like you to help prove whatever I say is false and if you do agree there are plenty of people who will fight to prove us wrong. Lose, lose.
But, whether you can stop the spill, clog it, light it on fire, or just ignore it it will continue to pour and I apologize for it's existence. Now... why are you still reading when I told you to stop at the first paragraph?
